The cheapest fixed-price ride from Miami International Airport to South Beach is still the Route 150 Miami Beach Airport Express at $2.25. A licensed taxi is metered - Miami-Dade County killed the old flat fares - with a $15 minimum and a $2 airport fee on trips that start at MIA. Rideshare can be door-to-door, but you’ll get the price from the app, not from a published tariff. Free-flow driving is about 16 miles / 30 minutes to Ocean Drive; your real clock depends on the Julia Tuttle Causeway and how many bags you’re dragging.

The short answer

Route 150: $2.25 across the causeway

Take the free MIA Mover from the terminal to the Miami International Airport Metrorail station, then board Route 150. The limited-stop bus crosses the Julia Tuttle Causeway and works the Miami Beach strip: 41st Street, Alton Road, Collins Avenue, Lincoln Road and Washington Avenue, with the published corridor running between South Pointe Park and 44th Street. It no longer stops at Earlington Heights. You’ll want the stop list on your phone before you board.

The adult Metrobus fare is $2.25 (February 2026 fare guide). Qualifying discount riders with the right EASY Card pay $1.10. Pay with contactless, an EASY Card/Ticket or the GO Miami-Dade Transit app if you want free bus-to-bus transfers within three hours; cash works on the bus, but it burns a full fare on every board. CVB guidance puts service roughly 5 a.m. to midnight, about every 30 minutes - treat that as orientation and check the live tracker the day you land. It’s not a locked MDT PDF timetable.

The honest catch: Route 150 is cheap because it’s a bus. Budget 45-60 minutes door to hotel once you add MIA Mover time, boarding and beach traffic, and confirm your hotel is near Collins, Washington or Lincoln. Mid-Beach stops around 41st Street are on the same route - useful if your booking is north of the Art Deco strip - but South Pointe and the southern Ocean Drive blocks still mean a walk or a short rideshare hop at the end. If you’re staying on a quiet side street far from those stops with three hard cases, the $2.25 fare stops being the bargain it looks like on paper.

Taxi: the meter, not the old flat fare

If you last visited Miami before mid-2022, unlearn the flat-rate story. County rules now say all flat fares are gone. Every licensed taxi - including Airport Regional Taxicab Service / Blue Cabs - runs on the meter.

Taxis stage on the arrivals / ground level outside baggage claim. Ask a uniformed MIA employee if you need a wheelchair-accessible cab.
